Summer Headaches
Grabe ang init!!! Sakit sa ulo!. Grrrrrr...... summer na pala.
Went to the movies last night with misis. A Beautiful Mind and Queen Of The Damned.

A Beautiful Mind is a moving piece from director Ron Howard. It tells about the life of the Nobel Prize winner and mathematical genius, John Forbes Nash Jr. and his struggle with schizoprenia. This is a story of a man's battle to overcome his own disability, his own demons. Russell Crowe's performance is utterly convincing, being able to bring Nash's character to the fore. And with this, another Oscar's may not be too far ahead. I hope the recent controversy surrounding the actor and the events from another awards ceremony, would not shroud his chance for the coming Oscar's. Jennifer Connelly's supporting performance must not be underrated as well, just what some critics did, in Requiem For A Dream.
If this film doesn't move you, much more bring you to the brink of shedding a single tear, man, ther'e something wrong with you.

Queen Of The Damned

Is that it? This movie certainly didn't measure up to what one expects, vampire or non-vampire alike. Blame it on Interview With the Vampire. Then again, why should you? This latest installation of The Vampire Chronicles lacks the right amount of appeal any non-vampire would crave for. I expected it to be more of the story of The Queen, Akasha. As it turned out, it was more of Lestat's. There's little exposure for the Queen's character, much more for the real story behind vampirism. The novel intended to explain how vampirism itself, came into being. I think the story is even more exciting. Too, bad they didn't show it in the movie. Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone's inadequacy is forgivable, but this, this is even worst. OR maybe I expected too much. Did I? By the way, if you , by any chance, have got a glimpse of Louis' character in the movie, would you mind telling me who he was? Louis was supposed to be there, right? I only saw Armand. And Mekare, Maharet's twin sister was supposed to be there also. She was the one who's supposed to finish Akasha by chopping her head off. I wonder if the movie would still make the same wave that it generated had its main character (apology to Aaliyah) lived until the movie was shown.
If you really want to enjoy this movie, you should certainly see it before you read the book. You're in for a disappointment if you would do the other way. .
